For workers
Care Worker CV Checklist
Most CVs are rejected for structure, not experience. Work down this list and fix anything you cannot tick.
1.Top of the CV
- Full name, city or region, phone and a professional email address
- A four-line profile naming the role you want and your years of experience
- Right to Work status stated plainly
- Enhanced DBS status and whether it is on the Update Service
- Driving licence and whether you have your own car
2.Experience section
- Most recent role first, with month and year dates
- For each role: the setting, ages or needs supported, and hours
- Three to five bullets of what you actually did, not a job description
- One measurable or concrete detail per role where possible
- Explain any gaps in one short line — do not leave them unexplained
3.Training and certificates
- First aid — course name, provider and expiry date
- Safeguarding training, level and year
- Childcare or care qualifications with awarding body
- Food hygiene, dementia awareness, moving and handling where relevant
4.Presentation
- Two pages maximum, one clear font, consistent spacing
- Saved as a PDF named Firstname-Lastname-CV.pdf
- No photograph, date of birth, marital status or full home address
- Proofread aloud, then ask someone else to read it
- Two referees ready, with permission asked in advance
